Consuming goji berries could help to boost your long-term memory.
That’s according to recent research which suggests that goji berry extracts could help to prevent neurodegeneration.
Scientists claim that certain natural chemicals in the berries appear to be able to protect cells in the hypothalmus part of the brain which is associated with memory.
Furthermore, this ability to help prevent some of the signs of aging may not to be confined to the brain. A further study has shown that goji berry extracts could slow down the degeneration of photoreceptor cells in the eye.
Finally, further studies show that goji berries could protect against osteoporosis.
Researchers discovered that berry extracts were able to prevent the death
of osteoblasts (specialist cells found in bone which help make and reshape bone) caused by a chemical which mimics part of the process of osteoporosis.
How to eat more goji berries
Goji berries are great for eating on the go just like raisins or sultanas. Or, just like other dried fruits, you can use them as an ingredient in cakes and muffins.
